Pan-Fried Haddock Fillet

Ingredients:

  • 4 haddock fillets
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Rinse the haddock fillets and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge each fillet in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat until the butter is melted and the oil is hot.
  4. Add the haddock fillets to the skillet, skin side down. Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  5. Flip the fillets over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Serve the haddock fillets with lemon wedges on the side.
Wine

Haddock Fillet Wine Pairing

When choosing a wine to go with haddock, it's important to consider the preparation method and any accompanying sauces or side dishes. Haddock has a mild, delicate flavor that can be easily overpowered by bold or tannic wines.

A lightly oaked Chardonnay can pair well with pan-fried or roasted haddock. The wine's creamy texture and subtle flavors of vanilla and butter can complement the mild flavor and texture of the fish.
