Baked salmon:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and lightly grease it with oil or cooking spray. Place the salmon fillet(s) skin-side down on the baking sheet and season with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings. Bake for about 12-15 minutes per inch of thickness, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
Grilled salmon:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Brush the salmon fillet(s) with oil and season with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings. Place the salmon on the grill, skin-side down, and cook for about 4-6 minutes per side, until the salmon is cooked through and has grill marks.
Pan-seared salmon:
Heat a tablespoon of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Season the salmon fillet(s) with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings. Place the salmon in the skillet, skin-side up, and cook for about 3-4 minutes. Flip the salmon and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the salmon is cooked through and has a golden crust on both sides.
Salmon Wine Pairing
When pairing wine with salmon, it's best to avoid wines that are too heavy or tannic, as these can overpower the fish's delicate flavors. Instead, look for wines with moderate acidity and fruit flavors that can complement the fish without overwhelming it, such as a Chardonnay or Sauvigmon Blanc.
Chardonnay's full body and buttery texture complement the richness of salmon, and is a perfect pairing for salmon. Sauvignon blanc is another good pairing since the wine's high acidity can cut through the oiliness of the fish.
