Old Bay Steamed Shrimp

Ingredients

  • fresh shrimp (preferably jumbo or large size), deveined and peeled
  • Old Bay seasoning (or a blend of spices including paprika, celery salt, black pepper, and more)
  • water

Instructions

  • Fill a pot with 2 inches of water and insert a steamer basket. Make sure the water level is below the steamer basket - you don’t want the shrimp to boil instead of steam.
  • Season the shrimp generously with the Old Bay seasoning or your preferred spice blend. Make sure you coat each piece evenly.
  • Once the water in the pot comes to a boil, place the seasoned shrimp into the steamer basket.
  • Cover the pot with a lid and cook shrimp in the steam for 5-6 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque. Overcooking will make the shrimp rubbery, so make sure you watch the time.
  • Once the shrimp are cooked, remove them from the steamer basket and arrange on a serving platter.
