Old Bay Steamed Shrimp

Ingredients

  • fresh shrimp (preferably jumbo or large size), deveined and peeled
  • Old Bay seasoning (or a blend of spices including paprika, celery salt, black pepper, and more)
  • water

Method

  1. Fill a pot with 2 inches of water and insert a steamer basket. Make sure the water level is below the steamer basket - you don’t want the shrimp to boil instead of steam.
  2. Season the shrimp generously with the Old Bay seasoning or your preferred spice blend. Make sure you coat each piece evenly.
  3. Once the water in the pot comes to a boil, place the seasoned shrimp into the steamer basket.
  4. Cover the pot with a lid and cook shrimp in the steam for 5-6 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque. Overcooking will make the shrimp rubbery, so make sure you watch the time.
  5. Once the shrimp are cooked, remove them from the steamer basket and arrange on a serving platter.
