To begin, set your oven to broil.
While the broiler is heating, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
Place salmon filets on the lined baking sheet. Drizzle each filet with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Using a pastry brush or your hands, make sure the oil is evenly distributed on both sides of the salmon.
Repeat for all 4 filets, ending with the skin side down.
Next, season each filet with 1 teaspoon of lemon-pepper seasoning and salt (if needed, to taste).
Once all filets are seasoned and the broiler is heated, place the baking sheet directly under the broiler.
Broil the salmon for 5 to 10 minutes until the outside is crisp and inside is tender and flaky. Because salmon cooking time can vary by thickness, start checking for doneness at around 5 minutes.
You can confirm doneness by inserting an instant read thermometer into the thickest part of each filet. Cooked salmon will have an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
To serve, carefully remove each filet from the baking sheet with a spatula and place on a serving dish.
If desired, finish with fresh herbs and a squeeze of lemon juice.
