Grilled Trout

Ingredients
  

  • 4 trout filets
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 tsp smoked paprika or cumin (optional)
  • lemon (for serving)

Instructions
 

  • Begin by preheating your grill on medium/high to about 400 degrees Fahrenheit
  • While the grill is heating, place trout filets on a clean surface (plate or sheet pan) to season
  • Drizzle each filet with olive oil, using a pastry brush to evenly coat the filets
  • Next, season the trout with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and other seasonings as desired
  • If available, place the trout filets in a fish grilling basket. Alternatively, place the filets directly on the grill grates, skin side down
  • Grill trout on each side for 3 to 5 minutes until cooked through
  • You can check for doneness by inserting an instant read thermometer into the fish. The internal temperature should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Serve hot off the grill with fresh lemon. Enjoy!
